Tuesday, February 16, is Elizabeth Peratrovich Day. Recognize the name? We didn’t until one night last fall when the Anchorage TV station was covering the Alaska Federation of Natives Convention and they highlighted the special screening of the film “For the Rights of All: the Ending of Jim Crow in Alaska,” a documentary about the work of Alaska Natives to end discrimination.

We’re curious to find out how many of our students have heard of this important Alaskan Native and of Alaska’s Civil Rights Day, which was created in 1988.

Thanks for sharing this. My inquiry-based learning class was interested to read it, and it will be specifically useful for the equity in education group there.
