Color-less; Color-more

Pretty incredible how fast things change up here. Last week was full of brilliant fall colors. This week is much more colorless.

The brown view from up by the house

Tans, browns and fading green grasses by the beach

Successful hunting browns

Less-used fish cutting table gray

Tied bunch of dried fish; pallid but for the tie

There are still some splashes of color around the village. But not too many natural, bright colors left.

A few lovely cabbages

In anticipation of the white to come, the K-1 Class has been creating colorful images to sustain us through the winter months.

“The craving for colour is a natural necessity just as for water and fire. Colour is a raw material indispensable to life. At every era of his existence and his history, the human being has associated colour with his joys, his actions and his pleasures.”
— Frenand Leger, “On Monumentality and Color”, 1943.

  1. Love your idea of planning ahead for color to go into the white months. My yellow pansies, that were planted last Sept., have every indication of blooming through this winter too. Elsie
